The Beatles were tremendously influential on rock and pop music (but not so much jazz).

The did things that bands had not done before. In recording and production - for example, the Beatles were one of the first to use string sections, the first to use foreign instruments, the first to use to record rock music in waltz (3/4) time, the first to use feedback, and one of the first to use electronic distortion.

They also had a few marketing first - one of the first concept albums (Sgt. Peppers), the first minimalist cover design (White Album), the first global broadcast (All You Need is Love), and the first full length feature film starring a band, etc.

lol….um i don’t think i can answer than. i don’t think anyone can. seeing as how the Beatles besically defined the genres of rock and pop. there was no pop before them. there was rock but they tweaked it to form a style that would be used for years to come.

I just don’t see how that could be answered. lol. think about everything you listen to…from Slipknot to Britney Spears…..none of it would be here without the beatles influences

They revolutionized American popular music, not just influenced it. The simple reason is: THE SONGS. The Beatles simply composed more great songs in less time than anyone else has. Their inspiration to other artists is evident in the fact that so many other artists cover Beatles songs. (”Yesterday” has been covered more than any other song in history). I have heard renditions of Beatles songs by jazz artists, classical artists, country artists, and so on. I would say their influence has spanned almost every known genre of music. In America, the Beatles are considered the best there ever was.

Blood, Sweat, & Tears recorded ” Got To Get You Into My Life”
Sergio Mendes & Brazil ‘66 recorded ” The Fool On The Hill ”
Sergio and band also recorded ” Daytripper “
