It depends on the lyrics. If they are singing about things that go against our faith and practices it’s not good to listen to them. It’s like listening to someone who insults ur religion everyday and singing along to it. We have to be more self aware. Even movies tv have things like this. It is hard to avoid.

Jazz music can be wonderful to listen to and relaxing, that’s why its normally played in most 5 star hotels lol (or at least the ones I’ve been to)

no, i listen to music all the time. jazz is way better than some R n B stuff out there which a lot of people listen to :S. as long as it isn’t satanic or gothy/emo stuff that makes you hate the world then its fine

i’m suprised that some act like their shikh’s and give fatawi by themselves like “yes sis. it’s alowed as long as you listen to her and not britney or something weird like that”

check online for fatawy (not ordanary people saying their opinion) .. we are responsible for what we say

I actually think it is haraam to listen to any kind of music. The only music you’re allowed to listen to is the music mady by muslims. I forgot the name of the artist that do it, but Cat Stevens is one of them.

And, if you’re not sure if it’s right or not, try going to your local mosque and ask the Imam/somebody in there - that should help.

I’m 15 years old so that’s the only thing I don’t listen too.

If you like Sinatra, you should have a listen to Bing Crosby (he is IMO better than Sinatra), for more instrumental stuff I lisen to people like Glenn Miller, Duke Ellington, Count Basie, Louis Armstrong, and from the bop side Dizzy Gillespie and Charlie Parker.

The ‘all time classic’ to me is Moonlight Serenade by Glenn Miller.
